About Us

Taste of Lebanese Food

Our dream is to represent Lebanon fully; the culture, the family values, the traditions, and most of all, the great taste of our food. Our family started planning to open our first ever restaurant in London in 2006 on Edgware Road. Our friends were sceptical about the location; an old café that required a lot of work, and out of the way of London’s cultural attractions.

But through our determination to create a unique experience of Lebanese food, and with the support and hard work of the whole family, we knew we could achieve this dream. The risk we took paid off when we opened our first restaurant, Al Arez 1, at 101 Edgware Road. We were warmly welcomed by the community, neighbours and other business in the area, something that we continue to be grateful for.

Since then, through the loyalty of our customers and supporters, our dream has continued to grow in London. We have opened multiple Al Arez restaurants across London; Al Arez Express at 132 Edgware Road, Al Arez 2 at 128 Brompton Road (opposite Harrods), and Al Arez South Ken at 5 Harrington Road (South Kensington).

We have also notably opened a takeaway spot at 2B Montpelier Street in Knightsbridge called Tyros Burgers, named after the Lebanese city of Tyr. Our dream to bring the great taste of Lebanese food to as many people as possible is still in the works, and we hope to continue building in the UK and Europe.

Lebanon in the UK

At Al Arez, our main aim is to present the finest taste of Lebanese food to our customers, with a pinch of Lebanese generosity within a friendly family environment. Within Lebanese culture is the importance; these key parts of Lebanese culture and upbringing are the key to creating a wonderful experience in our restaurants, and making people want to come back for more.

As a family-run business, we care about providing both the healthiest and tastiest food to our customers, but also providing a relaxed environment for socialising and chatting away. Food brings people together in Lebanon. We grew up sitting around tables filled with the finest dishes discussing life, history, war, peace, politics and more. To keep this rich custom alive within our restaurants today, we often cook old, traditional dishes that have been passed down from generation to generation across Lebanon. These homely dishes keep our national identity alive, and allow us to spread the real taste of Lebanon to new generations and different societies.

If you are looking for a healthy and traditional Mediterranean experience, Al Arez is the place for you.

Habits and Traditions at Al Arez

Shisha at Al Arez

At Al Arez, we pride ourselves on keeping our Lebanese traditions alive at all our restaurants, which also includes Shisha. Bubbly, Shisha or Argile is well represented in our restaurants. Smoking Argile is a long-held tradition in Lebanon, stemming from our ancestors who used it as a vehicle to socialise and discuss life with neighbours and friends in village squares. Argile is a hallmark of Lebanese society.

Our shisha areas are all outside, and are well maintained by our wonderful staff. We clean the shisha pipes and the area after each use and there is always a staff member available to help you out where needed. You don’t need to order food to smoke shisha at Al Arez, but we do recommend a cup of Arabic tea or coffee, which is customary to Lebanon when smoking shisha.

VISIT OUR RESTAURANTS

Al Arez During COVID-19

All of our Al Arez restaurants are COVID-19 safe, we work hard to provide to our valued customers the safest environments when eating out.

We have trained all our staff to be aware of the pandemic danger and to spot symptoms of the virus, acting quickly and reporting it to managers to take immediate action. We also have a cleaning station in each restaurant at the entrance with many leaflets distributed around all the areas to remind people to wash their hands and practice social distancing. Our risk assessment is updated regularly according to the situation and to prevent the spread of the virus.
